How to Auto-Update WordPress

Using an older version of WordPress can lead to vulnerabilities and bugs being left unaddressed, which is a security risk.

We recommend that you enable the automatic update function and use it.

You can use Softaculous or WP Toolkit depending on your contracted server.

Softaculous auto-update feature

STEP 1: Log in to cPanel.

STEP 2: Open Softaculous WordPress.

STEP 3: Open Softaculous WordPress options.

If you have multiple WordPress installations, open the target WordPress options.

STEP 4: Change settings.

Change the following displayed items as follows.

①Auto Upgrade WordPress Core

"Upgrade to the latest version available (Major as well as Minor)"

②Auto Upgrade WordPress Plugins

"Enabled"

③Auto Upgrade WordPress Themes

"Enabled"

④Debug Mode

"Disabled"

STEP 5: Setting completed.

When the settings are successfully saved, the following message is displayed at the bottom right of the screen.

WP Toolkit auto-update feature

STEP 1: Log in to cPanel.

STEP 2: Open WP Toolkit.

STEP 3: Click "Automatically update settings" for the target site.

If you can't see the "Automatically update settings" button or detailed site information, use the button on the left side of the site URL to switch the display.

STEP 4: Change the settings and click the OK button.

If you select "Force" in your plugin and theme auto-update settings, all updates will be applied regardless of your WordPress admin settings.

If you check to Enable auto-updates..., automatic updates will be set for plugins and themes newly installed with WP Toolkit.
