Overview
By using the "Backup" function in the "File" menu of cPanel, you can download a copy of the entire site or part of the site in ZIP format and save it to your computer.
Full backup
Attention
- It is not possible to restore your website through the cPanel interface using the full backup file obtained.
- Before restoring the backup file, it must be unzipped.
- After unzipping the backup file, you can upload and restore individual parts of the website contained in the full backup file.
- The backup process may fail for accounts near or over their quotas because the system cannot write necessary files, such as the database lock file.
STEP 1: Log in to cPanel.
STEP 2: Open "Backup".
STEP 3: Click "Download a Full Account Backup".
STEP 4: Specify the "backup destination" and "whether or not to have an email when the backup is completed".
You can specify the following as the backup destination.
- Home Directory: Save backup files to your home directory on your account
- Remote FTP Server: Store backup files on a remote server using FTP
- Remote FTP Server (Passive Mode Transfer): Use passive FTP to store backup files on a remote server
- Secure Copy (SCP): Store backup files on a remote server using Secure Copy Protocol (SCP)
*If you select 2 to 4, you need to enter the backup destination information.
STEP 5: Click “Generate Backup”.

To download a specific item, click the desired item.
Backup Download and Restore of Home Directory Backups
Backup download:
STEP 1: Open "Backup".
STEP 2: Click "Home directory".
Restore:
STEP 1: Click "Choose File".
STEP 2: Select the files obtained by the home directory backup.
STEP 3: Click “Upload”.
Backup Download and Restore MySQL database backup
Backup download:
STEP 1: Open "Backup".
STEP 2: Click the target database.
Restore:
STEP 1: Click "Choose File".
STEP 2: Select the files obtained by MySQL database backup.
STEP 3: Click “Upload”.
Email Forwarder Backup Download and Restore
Backup download:
STEP 1: Open "Backup".
STEP 2: Click the target forwarder.
Restore:
STEP 1: Click "Choose File".
STEP 2: Select the files obtained by email forwarder backup.
STEP 3: Click “Upload”.
Email Filter Backup Download

Email filter backup files store only domain account-level email filters in the file /etc/vfilters/$domain. User account-level email filters are not saved.
